Pumpkin Ale

Every Halloween, my wife and I do Trick-or-Treat for adults. We set up the grill at the bottom or our driveway and cook up some brats and hand out beer. This is the beer recipe that I created to make it a little more festive and more of an experience.

Enjoy.

to make 5 gallons

6 lbs. Maris Otter (Mash)
6 lbs. of American Two-Row (Mash)
1 lbs. of American Crystal 40L (Mash)
1 lbs. of Vienna (Mash)
.5 lbs. of Wheat (raw/flaked) (Mash)

Add 3 cans Libby’s canned pumpkin (no spices) to the mash
(If you want you can roast your own 10lb pumpkin in the oven for an hour at 400 degrees turning the pieces occassionally)

To the boil add 5 whole cloves and 3 cinnamon sticks for 30 minutes
1 oz. (28.3g) of Cascade (6%) boiled for 30 minutes.
1 oz. (28.3g) of Fuggles (3.2%) boiled for 15 minutes.

Wyeast 1098 British Ale yeast

sparge as usual.
